Plot Factory’s team is showing that they understand what matters to authors (setting goals) and built the features we need into their word processor.Ī very simple feature, but welcome to see Plot Factory recognizing the importance of goals and building it into the word processor. A simple enough feature, but an important one. Set yourself a writing goal and watch as you close in on it. If you’re working to build up your writing habit, a session goal is a must. In this mode, you can add descriptions or directions for each Scene, forming an outline you can use to drive the writing. The Beats Mode displays your story broken down by Chapter and Scene. Let’s look at the two most important ones: Beats Mode This menu offers some of Plot Factory’s cooler features for writing. But that’s almost a good thing because it forces you to focus on the writing. If you’re looking for a lot of options about layout, you won’t see any. I didn’t do a ton of writing with Plot Factory (mostly because I’ve been slacking on writing for fun lately) but the typewriter mode is smooth and I don’t have any complaints with the word processor. You won’t have a lot of options for fonts and such-but you can adjust the font size and there is a toggle for typewriter mode! The writing screen looks a little busy, but you can easily minimize both sidebars to focus on the writing. It’s a pretty basic word processor, but remember that Plot Factory is designed to help you write, not layout your book. If you’re familiar with Scrivener, the Universe is similar to a Binder-only the Universe is hyper focused on helping you craft a fictional world for your story. Creating A Story With Plot FactoryĮvery story you create with Plot Factory ties to a Universe. Because everything in the dashboard is so useful and welcome. But-for me-that feeling faded after just a couple of days using Plot Factory. At a glance, it might seem a little cluttered. Below all of that, we’ve got a forum for asking questions, a blog ticker with updates from the Plot Factory team, and a feedback form to help the developers improve the platform. On the left, we have our Recent tab and all the way to the left is the navigation you’ll be using to get to everything you create. It’s a powerful visual aid in reinforcing good writing habits. For most of us, this chart will (ideally) be a slow creep upward.Īnd if you don’t write anything? The line goes flat. Notice the huge spike (where I imported some projects to test Plot Factory) followed but much less activity. You’ll notice the Statistics section dominates, which is a really good way to track and stay motivated with your writing. I really love the way they’ve set up the dashboard. The Plot Factory DashboardĪfter you sign up and get your account info squared away, you’ll have a nice walk-through to meet your dashboard: What the creators aim to do is bring the entire creation process of writing fiction into a single interface/tool. You’re not just writing and typesetting, you’re also creating plot points, character backstories, and settings. Which, in my opinion, is what separates Plot Factory from other word processors. Plot Factory brings together the actual writing and the planning/preparation that goes into writing. You could type an entire novel into TextEdit or Notepad. The natural question is why Plot Factory and not MS Word or Google Docs? When it comes to just typing words, almost anything will do. And while I liked the idea behind StoryShop, I have to admit that Plot Factory really ups the ante in terms of features and usability. The most recent addition to the growing list of options authors have is Plot Factory, a web-based platform that specializes in helping authors create their backstory, organize their ideas, and write their book.įor those of you who tried out StoryShop (which I reviewed in 2019), Plot Factory is the natural successor. We have, without a doubt, come a long way from legal pads and #2 pencils. It seems every couple of months I find a cool new way for authors to plan, organize, and write their stories. The Encore GX is worth checking out if you want a good amount of space and plenty of standard features from your subcompact SUV. However, the GX can easily be shaken by rough roads, and it isn’t very thrilling to drive because of a lackluster base engine. It comes equipped with plenty of standard infotainment, comfort and safety features, and the cabin and cargo hold are spacious. Yes, the 2024 Encore GX is a good subcompact SUV. Overall, I found the Encore GX to be a perfectly adequate SUV, but I prefer the Hyundai Kona and Kia Seltos, two less-expensive and better-driving classmates. Engine power is decent, but it's a slow climb to 60 mph, even with the stronger optional powertrain found in my test car. Despite lots of plastics, most interior touch points are soft, though the volume and tuning buttons on the steering wheel felt cheap and out of place to me. I found the seats comfortable and the infotainment system straightforward and user-friendly. On the plus side, the cabin is roomy for a subcompact SUV, with the second row fitting three adults, so long as it's a short trip. Sightlines out the back were abysmal forcing me to rely on the rearview camera much more than I liked. The steering was too light for my taste, providing little feedback from the road. I was a little disappointed with the Buick Encore GX after driving the Sport Touring model for a week. Proceed to fabricate the Test Override Modules once you have the materials. The rest of the materials for the Test Override Module should be fairly easy to get. Once you finish scanning all three PPU fragments, head back to Drop Pod (or your base if you have a Fabricator installed) and fabricate the PPU. Bringing a Laser Cutter is required for a couple of PPU fragments as some are sealed behind small laser-cuttable doors. Oxygen Plants can be found in both sections to buy you some time to locate the PPU fragments. It is advised that you bring an Ultra High Capacity Tank, and a Seaglide with the flashlight switched on with you when you enter either the stern or the bow of the Mercury II, as they can be difficult to navigate. It is expected at this point in the game that you have a Seatruck equipped with a MK1 Depth Upgrade to easily navigate to the entrances to any section of the Mercury II. There is at least one PPU fragment in each of the three Mercury II sections. You will need to scan three fragments to unlock the PPU blueprint. If you already have these items on you or at your base, disregard this paragraph. Head out of the Lilypads Crevice and head up the Lilypad Islands and knife one Table Coral sample and harvest one Silver Ore. To get the materials for the PPU ahead of time, find a Calaverite Outcrop in the Lilypads Crevice as you leave the area containing Marguerit Maida's base, and make sure you acquire at least one Gold. The blueprint for the Test Override Module consists of simple materials as well as a special item known as a Parallel Processing Unit. There is also a Seatruck Perimeter Defense Upgrade near the table, it is advised that you pick it up. Her seabase is locked by default until you encounter Marguerit on the Delta Island.Īfter Marguerit Maida requests you to disable satellite surveillance, find and scan the Test Override Module fragment located on the table with Snowfox parts. You can pick up Marguerit's third log in the workroom, and the fourth log in her bedroom. For the time being, you will scan the Test Override Module and pick up the Seatruck Perimeter Defense Upgrade lying on the rug the workroom table sits upon. All but the fridge serve no practical purpose. The rest of the rooms contain special interior modules including the Fridge, Sink, Toilet, and Shower. When Robin enters the base's large room for the first time, Marguerit will request her to disable the Communications Tower on the Delta Island shortly before she walks into the adjacent large room. It is also accessible from the fissure under the northern Ventgarden in the Tree Spires. The base is accessible from the western corner of Lilypads Crevice, indicated by clusters of Hivemind plants. To get to Marguerit Maida's Base which is located 380 meters underwater, it is advised that you have a Seatruck equipped with a Seatruck Depth Upgrade MK2, which can be crafted in the Vehicle Upgrade Console or a Seatruck Fabricator Module attached to a powered Seatruck. How to disable the Tower in Subnautica Below Zero Full guide The ARE-Nrf2 Luciferase KeratinoSens TM test, representing the second key event, can discriminate between skin sensitizers and non-sensitizers under the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals ( OECD, 2018a). The second key event occurs within the keratinocytes and includes inflammatory responses as well as changes in gene expression associated with specific cell signaling pathways, such as the antioxidant/electrophile response element (ARE)-dependent pathways ( OECD, 2014). The first key event involves the initial covalent reaction of electrophilic chemicals in the irritant with nucleophilic thiol and primary amines in skin proteins. According to Cho et al., 2012, the toxicity of fast-dissolving metal oxide NPs is closely related to the intrinsic toxicity of its constituent metal ions.Ĭurrent knowledge regarding the chemical and biological mechanisms associated with skin sensitization has been summarized in the form of an adverse outcome pathway (starting with the molecular initiating event, through intermediate events, to the adverse effect), namely allergic contact dermatitis ( OECD, 2018a). Dissolution of such NMs causes toxicity different from that caused by NMs that do not dissolve well, possibly due to the released ions. NPs, in most cases, are minimally soluble under normal physiological conditions however, some have been shown to be soluble in certain media, such as lysosomal fluid ( Cho et al., 2012 Cho et al., 2013). The physicochemical properties of NPs form the key determinants of its toxic potential ( Donaldson et al., 2013 Braakhuis et al., 2014). However, since these guidelines are based on chemical substances, development of alternative test methods reflecting the properties of nanomaterials are also imperative. In recent cosmetic tests, the importance of alternative test methods considering animal welfare and the 3R principles has been emphasized ( Rusche, 2003 Kaluzhny et al., 2011). With an exponential increase in the commercialization of NPs in cosmetics and relevant safety concerns, evaluation of NP safety has become important ( Katz et al., 2015). While the major NP-exposure pathways include inhalation, ingestion, and absorption into the skin, the latter can cause lesions such as local inflammation, contact allergy, and skin sensitization ( Oberdörster et al., 2005 Maynard and Kuempel, 2005). With an increase in the number and production volume of NPs, concerns about their toxicity have increased exponentially in the recent years. Metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) constitute one of the major types of nanomaterials (NMs) that are used in industrial, biomedical, and cosmetic applications. Based on ion chelation data, metal ion release was confirmed as the major “factor” for skin sensitization. However, further investigations are required to elucidate the mechanism underlying NP-induced skin sensitization. Collectively, the results implied fast-dissolving metal oxide (CuO and CoO) NPs release their metal ion, inducing skin sensitization. The results showed that CuO and CoO NPs induce a similar pattern of positive luciferase induction and cytotoxicity compared to the respective metal chlorides Co 3O 4, NiO, and TiO 2 induced no such response. In addition, the response of metal oxide NPs was confirmed in lymph node of BALB/C mice via an in vivo method. The materials were applied to KeratinoSens TM cells for imitated skin-environment setting, and luciferase induction and cytotoxicity were evaluated at 48 h post-incubation. We selected five metal oxide NPs, containing copper oxide, cobalt monoxide, cobalt oxide, nickel oxide, or titanium oxide, and two types of metal chlorides (CoCl 2 and CuCl 2), to compare the skin sensitization abilities between NPs and the constituent metals. In this study, we evaluated the skin sensitization of nanomaterials comparing metal haptens in vivo and in vitro. Nanomaterials comprising metal haptens raises concerns about the skin sensitization to nanomaterials. Human skins are exposed to nanomaterials in everyday life from various sources such as nanomaterial-containing cosmetics, air pollutions, and industrial nanomaterials. The wine delivers a slight juiciness that’s balanced out with fresh acidity and a delightful spiciness. Here’s another stunner under the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) portfolio that is the exact definition of the phrase, “bang for your buck.” Made of 100 percent cabernet sauvignon grapes grown on the winery’s Los Vacos estate in Chile, this wine features all the full-bodied bells and whistles cabs from the Bordeaux region of France are loved for, but maintains a seductive spicy flair you can only get from South American wine.Ī deep, dark red, this wine smells like a cauldron full of black cherries and purple plums, sprinkled with white pepper roasting over an open fire. Los Vacos Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite This may be as close as you’ll get to a full-on Italian fine wine experience without actually breaking the bank. On the palate, the medium-bodied juice is vibrant with notes of sour cherry and herbal bouquets while the finish is long with smooth but firm tannins, reminiscent of the floral earthiness represented in the fragrance. There’s an interesting aroma of damp flowers that’s pretty indicative of the complexity that awaits in the bottle. However, Sangiovese, perhaps Chianti’s most popular grape, is predominant. This bottle is a blend of a variety of grapes grown on Antinori’s Pèppoli vineyard, which has been in production since 1985. Now here’s a wine that captures the true essence of Italy’s Chianti region, and it’s produced by one of the country’s most esteemed wineries, the Antinori family, who have made wine in Italy for over six centuries. Marchesi Antinori 2018 Pèppoli Cantina Online This wine is quite literally a fruit bath for your mouth, and we do mean that in the most elegant, sophisticated, and complex way. The wine gets an edge from tingling and savory notes of spice (that’s the 33 percent cabernet kicking in) while the silky soft tannins (which give the wine some astringency) wrap up all that juicy flavor with a lean and clean, lingering finish. The wineries’ collaboration brought forth the birth of this deep ruby red blend, for a wine that is completely harmonious in softness and acidity. When the family members of the renowned Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolás Catena wineries formed a partnership in 1999, it was for the sole purpose of producing a single wine that would showcase the best Argentina and France have to offer in grapes: Malbec and cabernet sauvignon.
